Visiting Sites for Buddhist Pilgrimage in Nepal
Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Buddha where many visiting siltes for Buddhist Pilgrimage are located. The topmost place is known as Lumbini, a particular birthplace of Gautam Buddha. Lumbini lies in the southern part of Nepal where the temple of Maya Devi is situated with such a position when she was giving the birth of Sidartha Gautam in 563 BCE. Similarly, there are a lot of monasteries built by different countries in different style. This place covers the Holy Pond as well as the Lumbini International Research Institute. Actually, Lumbini was granted World Heritage status by UNESCO in 1997.Swayambhunath Stupa is another visiting site for Buddhist Pilgrimage in Nepal which is also known as the monkey temple. It is the popular Buddhist destination in Nepal. On top of this site, there is a big stupa which is surrounded by other small stupas and temples. Though, the Swayambunath is considered as the visiting site for Buddhist Pilgrimage in Nepal, there is the popular Hindu Temple too i.e. known as the Harati Temple. Actually, it is the temple of Goddess Harati who is also known as the goddess of children. So, every Saturday this temple is crowded by the Hindu people who worship her for saving the life of their kids. This site has two access points: a long stairway with 365 steps and a roadway around the hill. Likewise, Bouddhanath Stupa is one of the largest Tibetan Stupas in Nepal and the ancient stupa was the largest in the world, but it was hampered by the earthquake in April, 2015 and the renovation process is going on still now. These both stupas are enlisted in UNESCO Word Heritage Site. Besides, Namo Buddha is also the important visiting sites for Buddhist Pilgrimage in Nepal where the beautiful stupa is located on top of the hills and is considered as one of the best hiking places of Nepal.
Why Nepal Is The Topmost Tourist Destination
Nepal is the landlocked country. It is situated on the lap of Himalayas. It is surrounded by the beautiful flora and fauna as well as hills, rivers, lakes and so on. Similarly, Nepal is the second richest country in the world in terms of its natural sources. As a result, it has been considering as the most prominent tourist destination in the world. Mt. Annapurna: It is another destination of tourist which lies in the north-central part of Nepal. It includes one peak over the 8,000m i.e. the Annapurna I and is the tenth highest mountain in the world, thirteen peaks over 7,000m and sixteen other peaks over 6,000m. Annapurna Conservation Area is the first as well as the largest conservation area of Nepal which encompasses within the 7629 square kilometers. It offers many trekking options.
Mt. Kanchenjunga: Kanchenjunga Himal is the third highest mountain in the world. It is 8,586m high. It is the second highest mountain of Nepal and lies in between the borders of Nepal and India. It offers many trekking options.
Langtang Himal: Langtang Lirung is the highest peak of Langtang ranges with 7,234m elevation. It is also the interested area of tourist. Langtang Valley is beautiful. The main resident of this place is Tamang, an ethnic group who belong to Tiibetan culture. Almost 25% of Langtang National Park is forested with distinctive flora and fauna like pine, rhododendron, and oak and so on. Besides, it preserves the wildlife like Himalayan Black Bear, Rhesus Monkeys, Himalayan Thar, Red Panda, etc. It offers many trekking options.
Besides, Gosainkunda Lake and Kyanjin Gompa are another tourist destination of Langtang region especially for Hindus and Buddhist respectively.
Manaslu Mountain: Manaslu Himal is the eighth highest mountain in the world with 8,163m above the sea level. It is located in the west-central part of Nepal. This region offers the very remote routes for the trekkers. However, it is very wonderful mountain of Nepal. It offers many trekking options.
Mt. Lhotse: It is the fourth highest mountain in the world which lies in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Its altitude reaches as high as 8,516m. It offers many trekking options.
Mt. Makalu: It is the fifth highest mountain in the world that also is located in the Khumbu region of Nepal with 8463m elevation from the sea level. It offers many trekking options.
Mt. Cho Oyu: It is another Himal above the 8,000m. It is also located in the same region where Mt. Everest lies. Its altitude reaches as high as 8,201m. It offers many trekking options.
Dhaulagiri Himal: Mt. Dhaulagiri is 8,167m high above the sea level. It is fully located in Nepal which is the major tourist destination. It offers many trekking options.
Kaligandaki Gorge: It is the deepest gorge in world, lies in Nepal. It separates the major peaks Dhaulagiri and Annapurna on the west and east respectively. Kaligandaki River is also accessible for rafting. Every year many tourists take part in rafting in this river. It offers many trekking options.
Lumbini: It is the birthplace of Lord Buddha where distinctive monasteries in different styles are situated. This place offers different tour options.
